Position Description: The Journal of Functional Foods in Health and Disease currently has an opening available for the position of Associate Editor. We are looking for someone (scientist or medical doctor) who is a qualified expert in the field of functional food science, nutrition, bioactive compounds, Nutrigenomics, and other related fields. This opening requires that the individual be excellent in English and the associated skills of writing, editing, grammar/syntax, and be well versed in biological/medical terminology. Food Industry Liaison

Position Description: Functional Food Center is looking for individuals who can help to grow our business worldwide.  We are looking for people who are currently a part of the food industry, and who are well connected via multiple networking mediums. Those who are chosen to fill this position will have the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the world, and connect to industry representatives in their immediate local areas. Food Industry Liaisons will be required to:

  • Advertise upcoming conferences by recruiting presenters and attendees
  • Develop and follow through on leads for potential sponsorships and ad placement at conferences, in newsletters, and on our website
  • Sell and place our educational material in stores
  • Recruit food industry representatives interested in learning how to create healthy functional foods
  • Find ways to assimilate current products into big markets by researching company potential in your area

  • Develop and follow through on leads for potential sponsorships and ad placement at conferences, in newsletters, and on our website
  • Promote our educational material in libraries and local bookstores

  • Recruit professors and scientists to submit articles and research for publication in our academic journals and books
  • Find new research developmental collaboration opportunities

Marketing Intern

Position Description: The ideal candidate will be assisting with a myriad of different advertising, marketing, and networking assignments. Training for these areas will be provided immediately after hire. The intern must be creative, self-motivated, dependable, and highly driven to work in an independent environment.

Internship duties will include:

  •  Helping to create professional newsletters that provide vital company updates to more than 350,000 subscribers.
  • Sending and receiving professional emails from functional food and medical industry representatives.
  • Contacting potential sponsors for ad placements at international conferences, on our webpage, and in our company newsletter.
  • Advertising and distributing published academic books across different channels.

Internship duties will include: Interns will have the potential to earn commission based upon performance, and will also have the opportunity to be hired on following the completion of their internship. A possibility of receiving compensation via an honorarium is also achievable for highly motivated individuals, along with a well-documented reference letter from the company head, which will chronicle assignments successfully completed during the student’s tenure.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have experience in the categories of advertising, marketing, management etc, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Biology and Business Internship

Position Description: The ideal candidate will be provided with training via assignments such as: scientific grant underwriting, dealing and developing product patents, and understanding biological and chemical research processes pertaining to functional foods and bioactive compounds. Training for these areas will be provided immediately after hire. The intern must be creative, excellent in English (reading, writing, editing), knowledgeable with scientific terminology, self-motivated, dependable, and highly driven to work in an independent environment.

This Internship will help develop skills such as:

  • Understanding the business side of the biological sciences.
  • Networking with representatives from universities, governmental agencies, the medical industry, and the food industry.
  • The processes behind grant writing to further academic research.
  • Learning how to write proposals to be sent to patent agencies.
  • Applying and submitting patents for creative ideas in the fields of functional foods and bioactive compounds.
  • Communication between scientists and academic institutions. 

Interns will also have the opportunity to be hired on following the completion of their internship. A possibility of receiving compensation via an honorarium is also achievable for highly motivated individuals, along with a well-documented reference letter from the company head, which will chronicle assignments successfully completed during the student’s tenure. Academic credit will not be available since the current semester has already started, but for those willing to stay on until spring, the potential to receive academic credits in addition to other benefits will be made available at that time.
